Do you just light up at the tapered foot and go or do you get confused and just stare at it like i am and fear that you might be doing something horribly wrong. ??? i'm curious as to if you need to snip the foot? also, on presidente would you snip the foot?

I don't snip the foot unless it is a closed end (and I've only seen one on a custom rolled). Just light it up and let it slowly open up on it's own. Be careful, if you draw too hard it will start crooked.

I once read that you can't smoke a cigar backwards because it will ruin the smoke. I don't know if thts true or not as I have never tried. Mabye someone needs to do a front to back comparison and let us know.

It'll smoke fine either way... all that really matters is you can get a decent draw. The same tobacco burns either way, going through the same air passages.

You don't need to cut the foot (though I've seen people insist you should do this, even folks who own cigar shops).

cool thanks. i've actually smoked a cigar backwards once whenever i let my friend snip the cap and he took off like an inch and it unraveled it was actually fine until it lost its wrapper about 2/3 into the cigar.

You can do one of two things to ensure that it doesn't happen again:

1) Don't EVER let that friend 'prepare' your cigar for you. Do it yourself.

or

2) Get a new friend.
