Pet Peeve

My pet peeve is people who park their nice cars at the back of a parking lot, or double park. I usually will park right next to them, no matter how far away from the door, in my beat up old Chevy... I know thats gotta freak them out.  :D

Why freak them out? Your actions is one of my pet peeves. The idiots who deliberately go out of their way to piss off or annoy someone they don't know for no reason other than to get their rocks off. Show small amount of consideration towards others and try to leave a berth between cars eh? Like enough space for them to get in/out of the car and just leave them be?

The amount of shit that happens to higher end cars in parking lots is ridiculous enough that I personally know exotic owners who have simply given up parking anywhere other than their own garage or valet because of the amount of spit, soda, trash and piss that ends up on, or in the case of convertibles, in their car. Hell all I did was dare to park a 930 in front of a Vons to come back and find ketchup on the windshield. You may not be throwing anything at a car, but you're damned sure doing things with the same intent.

I didnt say anything about parking so close they can't open their door. And I never said anything about wanting to do anything destructive to their cars. I understand some people are stupid and want to destroy someones property, but people parking their car far away from the door IMO are being a bit "look at me and my car" so I park next to them to make fun of that. I find it funny to see a mercedes parked at the back of a lot with a 92 chevy parked right next to it. This thread is about pet peeves not about attacking someone. If people who do that are annoying to you then so be it, but this isn't the place to attack.

People parking their car far away from other cars in order to avoid scratches, door dings and potential vandalism is 'look at me'? Funny but I've yet to meet a Ferrari owner who has not had something done to their car in a parking lot. There is a reason why people take that precaution, whether it be a BMW or a Bugatti. Maybe you've just never bothered to think about why someone would inconvenience themselves and park at the back of a parking lot before.

This thread is about pet peeves not about attacking someone. If people who do that are annoying to you then so be it, but this isn't the place to attack.

Its about attacking all those people who engage is said pet peeve, ie annoying behavior. People who deliberately do annoying things directed at others that they don't even know to get their rocks off is one of my pet peeves. You are apparently one of those people. Oh well.

My biggest pet peeve is paying TOO much for smokes!!

And people who you can never joke around with because they are always serious and take everything wrong anyway. LIGHTEN UP!!

Very bad etiquette, imo, to make your 18th post on this forum an attack on a fellow BOTL. You have cuased the focus of this thread, which was very humerous to take a dramatic drive into a potential flame war.

Nick is a stand-up guy who doesnt mean any harm to those people with nice vehicles, and has never purposefully vandalized these vehicles, but he finds humor through odd things in life. :p He never said anything about vandalizing any cars, just that it is a pet peeve of his when they park in the middle of two parking spots. We are digressing, lets get back to the funny posts now...

someone funny please jump in here and help! :sign:

Paul, this is not the place to call out an individual and attack him. If you have anything else to say you can PM me and I will happily PM you back. No one wants a flame war over some silly pet peeves.

Yes we are digressing. However please stick to the facts. Nick commented on parking in the back of parking lots, and double parking. Double parking is parking directly next to a row of parked cars, generally taking up a traffic lane. see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_parking

Parking and taking up two parking spots in the process is a rather annoying thing to do.

You're right, no one wants a flame war and what we have isn't a flame war. Its a discussion. I've already commented that my first post is a bit to heated. Anything I were to send you in a pm at this point would be a simple re-iteration of my previous post. Ie, why do you take pleasure in taking actions with the intent of deliberately annoying others that you don’t even know?

Ok - Here is a brief anf abbreviated list of traffic idiocies that drive me nuts (I won't mention the many that have already been mentioned).

Idiots who slow to a near stand still before a turn - Not all turns are to be taken at 5mph!!!

Idiots that slow in the fast lane *before* merging to teh left turn lane for their turn. The point of the F#$%^%g left turn lane is so that traffic isn't interrupted by teh left turns. Lane change then slow down, D!@# %T.

Idiots who travel on an on-ramp at 25mph, then stop at the top hoping to merge with 70mph traffic from a stand still. Gain speed (as long as the on ramp is straight and safe for it, wait for a 360 to straighten first) and merge at the avg speed of traffic!

Idiots driving in the city with their High Beams at night - or those that don't switch them off for on-coming traffic on the highways!

Idiots that pull into teh middle of an intersection in stop-and-go traffic to make sure they go through a signal. Problem is they are always blocking the interesection when the signal changes and cross traffic can't flow. If you can't get *Completely* through an intersection, don't F@#$%n' enter it in the first place!

I'll stop now, because I'm gettin' pissed just trying to write this list.

I drive a van for work, it has limited visibilty to the right side. I have a convex mirror to help, but there is still a blind spot big enough to hide a fair sized car.

The gripe? It never fails that when I turn my right turn signal on to change lanes that some butthead will accelerate to fill the hole I am trying to get into.

Another one that whizzes me off to no end is the complete cluelessness that most people have at a 4-way stop. The guy to your right goes first people!

I always follow traffic at a safe distance, if people see a hole they fill it up. I have a theory that one of these days I will never make it to work :)

Oh, if you can avoid it, DO NOT drive a vehicle with the company phone number on it. Only bad can come of that! (as I know all to well).

I ride a bicycle about 5 miles a day, and most drivers seem completely ignorant of all traffic laws. At all stop signs you do have to treat me as a car! Another thing is that people always seem to think that "bicycle lane" actually means "please park here", then people get mad when I ride in the street. If the speed limit is 25, and I am doing 20, then just freaking deal with it.
I was making a left hand turn onto a side street, even signalled my turn, and some redneck jackass was making a left hand turn from the side street, he was starting to pull out while I was turning so I yelled to get his attention, then he guns it to purposely run into me, I could see him looking directly at me. Luckily he just clipped me and didnt actually run over me, but he screwed my knee up so that I coudnt ride for a week, and screwed up my bike pretty bad. If I knew who he was, I would burn his truck to the ground and take a baseball bat to him.

Hi, Qualls07! I am very sorry to learn about the bicycle accident. Did you get this individual's vehicle plate number? I guess that I will need to be even more careful now when I ride my bicycle, because of these types of "jackasses". There are certainly some inconsiderate people out there. Regards, knightlaird

AMEN!!!! I thought I was the only one that was bothered by it!!

Pet peeve lately is "customer service" people who tell you they "can't" do something, when in fact they "won't". Most are more than capable of finding the information or someone who can find it but they just won't go through the trouble of getting it. I now always make them clarify what "can't" means.

My pet peeve is redtarded drivers who drive SLOW in the FAST lane and people who ust don't know how to drive. I also dislike wehn people can concede and accept defeat.

Another pet peeve of mine is people who bite their forks and spoons when eating... Use your lips people!! :sign: :D

I can relate! Although she doesn't bite her utensils, my wife sometimes clanks her fork/spoon against her teeth when she eats. It's very subtle and doesn't happen very often, but it's definitely a pet peeve when she does it. I've given her a hard time about it so she rarely does it anymore. Funny thing is when I went to her parent's home for Thanksgiving, I saw (or heard) firsthand where she developed the habit.

I already have my retirement hobby planned, even if it is a long, long way off.

I am going to sit at a couple of intersections here in town. These are 4-lane intersections, in which two are going each way, and the right lane has a protected arrow for a right turn. We have several of these in town.

The problem is that the right lane will have 25 cars wanting to turn right, and one idiot at the intersection that is going staight. This really pisses me off. So, to fix the problem, I am going to sit at these intersections, randomly, with a bullhorn, and when the idiot is at the intersection, I am going to let them have it, and make sure the entire world knows just how stupid they are as a driver.

So, someday, beware of this stupid habit while driving in my town...
