I'm trying to get Photobucket to work and have two sad pictures to show if it works.

Wow! Looks like you are going to have some pruning to do once all that white crap melts.

As far as photobucket goes, I have moved away and started using Flickr.
I like the interface a little better.

What kind of trees are those that they can take so little snow load? Was there ice, too? I know your trees aren't accustomed to holding snow down in Texas, but that seems like a lot of damage.

We've got ash trees all over the place that fall over if you look at them funny but they'll hold a lot more snow than that.

Pug those trees aren't dead. They are just receiving some thinning that you had been thinking about doing, but never got around to. It is amazing how resilient trees and shrubs actually are. They may be ugly for a couple of seasons but they will be back. My advice is to contact a certified Arborist later in the spring, when he is not so busy with the 911 from the storm and have him evaluate your trees to see what pruning needs to be done to highlight the natural shape of the trees as well as their long term health. Do not, I repeat do not contract with the inevitable traveling zoo of butchers that will follow the storm. The sales pitch of super cheap clean up to your trees will not be worth the damage caused from the, tree topping, Joseph Megele's, will not be worth the few bucks saved.

Always bugs me when people say "dead". No offense Pug. They say look the golf course is dead, or the shrubs are dead. Dormancy is a natural part of the seasons and a resting plant is only preparing to work for you in the coming season. A few broken limbs does not a dead tree make.

End Rant!

Edit for grammar!

Lots of downed limbs here last week. I was surprised. Granted, we got record snow, and all in only about 30 hours, but I would have guessed the trees would have handled more than they did. Now it was very wet snow, which may have been part of the trouble too.

In any case though, I'm glad it's gone.
