Here are a few pics from my last brew session.
I brewed up my Holiday Spiced Ale.
Right now it is sitting around waiting for me to add the spices......
There are a few reasons....
1. Gravity: I do not have my mash tun high enough
2. You have to recirculate the wort before you go to the boil kettle.
a. recirculation helps set the grain bed, it acts as a filter.
b. grain in the boil leads to tannin extraction and other "off" flavors
3. I like to know the volume of wort I am collecting.
I am a homebrewer myself but I noticed there was a lot of wort so I didnt know if you were vourlaufing or collecting all the runnings. Just seems like measuring increments in your brew kettle would be easier then putting it into that bucket and then putting it into your boil kettle.
