Places to smoke in San Diego?

Hi, all...I've searched the threads a bit before posting this, but didn't find exactly what I was looking for (plus, the threads were a tad dated, and things might have changed), so apologies if this is a "search is your friend" issue...

...However, I'll be in San Diego for 4 days this week/weekend (4/18-4/22) for one of my best friend's bachelor party trips (insert Tijuana joke here). Six of us have been tight since our days at JMU, we've all been in each other's weddings, and since we're scattered from Philly to Richmond, we take a trip to the location of the bachelor's choosing (with the other 5 picking up his air fare and hotel accommodations) in lieu of the standard skin joint bachelor party (although we manage to fit in a little of that). This is our 6th and final trip.

My friend Rob (the best man at my wedding) and I both enjoy the leaf, so when we go on one of these trips we usually try to find a place that we can go and enjoy a few cigars. I've read the threads that indicate places to BUY them in San Diego, but are there any places you'd recommend we go to smoke them? I plan on bringing a selection out with me, so purchasing them won't be an issue. We're staying in the Gas Lamp district.

I thought San Diego nixed smoking on the beach last year!

There are a couple of shops downtown and in the gas-lamp, but I've never had any personal experience with them...

I hope an SD BOTL can help you out with a recommendation...
 
There is a place about 4-5 blocks from petco park in downtown that is good . I think it is called the cuban cigar factory. Was there a couple of weeks ago and had a smoke there.
 
I'll have to keeps tabs on this thread. I'm going to head to San Diego for the Raven's game on November 25th. :thumbs:

Luckily for us, our hotel had a beautiful rooftop deck/patio that we were able to smoke on in nicer weather, but I did stop by the Cuban Cigar Factory on Fifth Ave. (I STRESS "stopped"). One look at the outlandish prices and I was out the door ($8 for a Padrón 3000?!?!?!). We ended up stopping at Cesar's down the street one night to enjoy our own smokes and their liquor. As a general rule the prices anywhere in or near the Gaslamp quarter were extremely high. I'm sure some of it has to do with the tobacco tax in CA, but some of it was downright gouging. There are plenty of places to enjoy a good smoke in S.D., but my advice? Bring your own.
