By Hoppin Frog in Akron Ohio. As I've mentioned, the owner makes some of the best stouts, porters, and barrel aged beers around.....but he is a terrible business man. Distribution sucks, he doesn't date his bottles because Ohio has a stupid law forcing you to recall beer beyond a certain age, and his labels are horrifically bad artwork. But he make good shit! And I can drive 20 minutes to their tasting room. If I can hook you up, let me know
This beer is a conundrum....in a purely positive way!
When you see the alcohol at 17% you immediately think boozy but the plum flavor is so perfectly done that I can't get enough of this beer.
It has all the characteristics of a barrel aged barley-wine but with a delicious flavor of plum. I also feel/sense a fermenting raisin in the background.
There is no doubt when you drink this that it is high in alcohol but the plum flavor is so delicious it's dangerous!
