This local Thomasville kid, who apparently has some problems, shoots himself in the head in his Church's parking lot yesterday. They take him to the hospital, but no brain activity and they were planning to shut down the life support. When they go to do that, they start seeing brain activity, and he starts breathing on his own, also a good strong pulse. Well, today they did brain surgery to remove bone fragments, and the bullet missed all the vital parts of his brain, and they expect him to make a full recovery. The Dr.'s have no medical explanation of how this kid rallied from certain death. To me, it's obvious God has plans for this kid, and it's another example of how powerful God is.

Perhaps so. But now there's this kid who not only had problems before but is now likely facially disfigured. His suicide was not a "cry for help", as he shot himself in the head. It was an honest attempt at taking his life. I'd be surprised if he doesn't try it again.

Have they interviewed the kid or his parents? I'd be interested to see if his outlook on life has changed for the better. I hope that it has.

I'm not sure he's facially disfigured, i believe he stuck the pistol to the side of his head. He just got out surgery today.

This is amazing and I do agree with you Gator. God does amazing things.

Not speaking for G-d, but I think He/She now expects us to do our part. This child needs intervention. He has a 60% chance of doing again over other kids. Unless some responsible adult walks him through why he did it and gives him the skills to deal with the problems that drove him to this, he will see suicide as a solution to his problem. G-d did his part, now we are at bat. My 2 cents.

Or maybe the kid needs to learn to shoot

Wow.

Have you considered standup?

Ouch.

A little uncalled for pornico but I hate to say I laughed.

Poronco, really uncalled for. My prayers are with the child and his family. Things happen in the minds of people and you can not do anything to prevent that....love to all

They say the best humor is the one that hurts others
I have to agree with Mellie about him and his family,All to often the ones that are left are the ones that hurt the most.

My point of this thread was not why did he do this, or what's to be done to prevent this from happening again (although obviously the kid has some serious issues and his family and pastor have their work cut out to prevent this from happening again) but simply the miracle of this kid living and having a chance to make a full recovery from a bullet into his brain, when they were certain he was brain dead. I call it God's amazing power, i guess some can call it whatever they like.

We had a local guy who did this, but it was a shotgun under the chin. Somehow he missed or his aim was off and all he managed to do was blow his jaw and nose off and do severe damage to the rest of his face and head. Though he did endure several cosmetic surgerys he had no lips and just a hole to speak through with no muscle to shut it. Of course, he died of a heroin overdose last year. Whether he wanted another chance or not he got it. I've dealt with enough mental illness in my own family to know that his pastor and friends have very little to do with it. He needs some serious medical help. If he's already given up on life once I imagine it makes it all the easier to do it again. I feel for the guy, but as humans we all have the chance to choose our fate.

That is clearly Gods work in action.
I heard a story about a man going to hang himself, climbed up the ladder had the rope in place and fell off the ladder. Hit his head on the concrete floor and died. It seems he knew when just was a little off on how.

Looking at it after the fact you can say that God has plans for him but looking at it before the fact you can also say that Gods plan was for him to shoot himself. The both have equal validity.

Yep.

If this hadn't happened in a church parking lot would it still be God's amazing power or would it just be some kid who is "lucky" (in some people's opinion) to be alive?

I feel for the family. The kid needs serious help...let's hope the resources are there to provide it.

That is a solid analysis. Not knowing what the outcome is finally to be, any path is a possibility. One can even argue that, believing in the multiple universe theory, that every path is a possibility and every path is somewhere taken. That may be a little to heavy however.

I dunno, we can choose to disobey God, and sometimes He intervenes, but i quit questioning why He does what He does.

The kid definitely suffers from mental illness, i never implied that he didn't, he'll need lots of treatment to keep from this happening again, but again, the point of this thread was not to get into the reasons why, how to prevent it, it was about a miraculous recovery that i see it as God at work, but some might not see it that way, and that's ok too.
