Prayers Please

Mike, you need to take charge, order an EMERGENCY meds review from her primary care doc, then do a drugs scavenger hunt in her house. Make sure you toss everything that is expired. This kind of shenannigans killed my father-in-law. Nobody was in charge.

Prayers to you and your mom.

I’m so sorry to hear that Bruce. Thank you for the advice, we haven’t had a chance to do a scavenger hunt yet but her new pain management doctor is doing the meds review. He’s just stunned. All of her previous doctors are fired and we’re getting her set up with new ones.

What makes this even more difficult is the fact that the care providers were my brother and his wife. We’ve discovered that in the span of one month 4 doctors wrote 5 separate prescriptions for narcotics and not one pill is left, there was actually a refill at the pharmacy waiting for doctors approval. Needles to say, we told the doctor she won't needing it. I just can’t see how my brother could have let this happen. I don’t know if this was intentional or accidental but in my mind it was at the very least neglectful. I’ve never been so furious. And of course you know there’s so much more drama which likely won’t end soon. As for the authorities becoming involved, I don’t think I could prevent it even if I wanted to.

Again I appreciate the prayers and well wishes, Thank you.

One positive, when we were transferring Mom from the hospital to the rehab unit, not only was the ambulance driver a great guy but he and his father are avid cigar smokers. I told him about CP and hopefully we’ll see him here soon.

Glad to hear that things are improving, even if at a slow pace and I hope you mom makes a full recovery.

As far as the family caretaker deal, it is a tremundus strain on the family in general but I hope the situation isn't as it first appears.

Don't automatically blame your family. Its human nature to believe someone with that much college under the belt. However, I suspect you and your brother will both be informed, skeptical health care consumers going forward. Find your blessing in this experience and give thanks that it didn't cost you anything you couldn't afford. Cheers, Bro!

I'm sorry I missed this, Mike... Of course prayers will be sent out for you and Mom (and that rat bastid brother of yours  )...

Good luck, bro - and you can believe God will bless you for your role in taking care of Mom!

wow- sorry i am late on this one mike!

Prayers ~

Hope she does well in recovery and bless you for takng on the responsibility of her care.

Warm thoughts for your mom, and a lil request to the cosmos that the Doc and your brother each get what they deserve, whatever that may be...

Here is hoping that your Mother has a quick recovery and she returns to normal.
