Pretty upset with Cigars International

I'm really pissed, I bought their brown bag special $19.95 (10 random cigars) and the weekly special of 20 cigars for $29.95. The only reason I bought it was because the price was sooo good, there were 2 cigars that retailed for $12msrp so I couldn't pass it up.

I got my package today, I opened my cigars...smoked one of the cheapies (oh gosh it was horrible)...then I picked up one of the expensive ones...I used my new .44 mag punch lit my match and tried to draw.....plugged.....

I tried again but with all my might.....kinda worked.....

After about 30 minutes of going cross eyed the cigar was about half done and the plug wasn't gone...

I tossed it and just a few minutes ago I picked up the other one and IT DID THE EXACT SAME THING.

I thought my punch was messing it up so I tried it on the cheap cigar and it worked PERFECT.

Does CI make it usual business to sell messed up premium cigars?
 
Email them and ask to send it back or to get a replacement. I'm not going to say nothoing but you get what you pay for.

You can't pay beer prices and expect champagne.

I bought a bundle of Lancero over-runs about 6 months ago. Every stinkin' one was plugged. I got a return order from CI, sent it back and was refunded the unsmoked portion of the bundle.
 
One thing to note regarding Cigars International (and CBid, for that matter). They way over humidify their cigars. Whenever I buy from them, I always let them rest at 65% for at least two weeks. This usually helps a lot in reducing the bad draw.

Couple of things - you ought to let the cigars sit in your humi for a while before you smoke them because they usually come over-humidified (partially due to shipping so they won't dry out). I try and wait a couple of months before smoking a new cigar, but that doesn't always happen. However, if at all possible, try to at least give them a couple of weeks in your humi before you smoke them. The other thing is if you had a draw poker you could have saved your cigars. I invested in one after I spent 10 bucks on a Perdomo once and after it being plugged, and almost giving me a brain aneurysm trying to inhale, I tossed it. You can send them back, but what a pain. The poker in my opinion is a much better option. They cost no more than 20 bucks (you can find them everywhere - including eBay). You just stick the cigar into the device and insert the rod into the cigar, give it a couple minutes, and no more plugged cigar. I even used it occasinoally with cigars that aren't necessarily plugged, but when I want a better draw. One of those things that I would really recommend having if you smoke many cigars. I'm surprised by how many people (and probably many of this board) don't have one.

...no, and I've actually had very good luck with them and CBid.

The comments to let the gars rest up a bit is solid advice. Several of the vendors I've done business with also "over humidify" their cigars so that they will travel well. I try to keep my "smoking" humi around 65% and you'd be surprised how much better they are after a couple of weeks, or better yet a couple of months in that environment.

You could also call them and tell them what you've told us. My guess is that you'll get an offer of a full replacement.

I have a small auger. It works great!
 
Ive never had any problems with CI's brown bag cigars...usually get some REALLY good smokes out of it too. Call em up and complain...im sure they will try to make good on it!
 
The folks at CI have shown themselves to be real good people on many occasions and they do pride themselves in customer service. If there is a problem - let them know and see what the suggestion is to rectify the situation. I have known them to step up and do the right thing in many documented instances on the various boards.
 
Draw Pokers work on tight cigars, not plugged ones. I have left cigars in the poker for up to 3 weeks and after a few puffs the cigars pluggs right back up. The Draw Poker does not pull tobacco out, which is what is needed on plugged cigars.

I have a Petroglyphics poker that saws the tobaccco and brings some out, it works better than the Draw Poker, but still doesn't make totally plugged cigars smokeable.
