Never had 'em -- looks like they were meant to be Avo cigars (which are rolled by Davidoff):

When a cigar manufacturer makes an imperfect cigar, they are classified as seconds. The imperfections are usually very slight, such as a veiny or discolored wrapper. Most of the time the imperfections are so slight that only a trained eye would notice. Since factories don't intentionally produce seconds, the supply on some sizes is limited.

I have had a few of the private stocks. Overall they were okay, although the cigars themselves were not aged at all, so the taste suffered tremendously. They seemed to be very light, dry as can be, and acrid tasting. The constructoin all the ones I have smoked has been tremendous and the ash if i remember correctly, was extremely white. Personally, i keep seconds bundles just to give to friends and smoke on days i golf or go to the beach. I would personally recommend the roly bundles by puros indios much more than the private stock bundles, plus if you buy two bundles at once online, they end up costing less than a buck a stick, which you cant beat anywhere. Just my two cents

I just read somewhere,recently too,either on a website or in a recent magazine artical,that the private stock brand was never proven to be from Davidoff and an email/phone call to Davidoff confirmed that they indeed have nothing to do with private stock and dont make seconds.

Now this could be a ploy by them to get people to spend that large amount of money they charge on there regular line,but maybe not.....who knows.

Private Stock's haven't been Davidoff seconds since 1999

"Private Stock cigars are their own brand. They are not Davidoff secondos and they are produced in a different manufactory. The blend of the Private Stock cigars is also different. The common between Davidoff and Private Stock is ownership of brand - the owner is the Oettinger IMEX AG in Basel, Switzerland. Unfortunately we have to inform you that we do not sell Davidoff 'seconds.' Davidoff cigars are only availalble in first class quality."
