Now, who remembers the short lived WWF Cartoon with Cindi Lauper.

I remember the cartoon and the wresters would host it and always argue the ending. For example in one episode, Hulk Hogan and Nikoli Volkoff went into outer space to help save the astronauts on the Space Shuttle. When the cartoon was over, they argued who was the first wrestler in space.

Remember when the WWE was the WWF and before that was the W.W.W.F (World Wide Wrestling Federation)

Remember wrestle mania 2 where Hulk Hogan wrestled King Kong Bundy in the steel cage match? Or in Wrestle Mania 4(?) When Hulk Hogan slammed Andrea the Giant?

Here is a classic, the Megapowers!

I go back to the 60's and it was all regional then, no national tv. The Crusher ( a South Milwaukee native; he died a few weeks ago),The Bruiser, Mad Dog Vachon, Larry The Ax Henning, Bobby Heenan, Bobo Brazil, and one of my favs, Hercules Cortez, Billy (man of a 1000 holds) Robinson, Red Bastine (spelling?, Lushious Lars Anderson.

I met a few at various bars in the early 70's, The Russian Bear Ivan Koloff, Dirty Dick Murdock. Met Andre The Giant at the arena in Milwaukee in 73 or so.. what a big guy, and his hands.. wow!

The Crusher was my favorite growing up. My dad used to take us to the Mpls Auditorium for saturday night matches, it was awesome. The Battle Royales were the best.

Any one remember when the Crusher took on Hulk Hogan in the pose off? Hulk gets out there and does his typical bodybuilder type poses, really strutting his stuff. Crusher comes out and does his "one keg" pose, then the "two keg" pose. It was all over for the Hulk, the crowd went wild!!! Crusher had to have been 50+ years old at the time.

My mother used to run a bar in Omaha,Nebraska up until the time I was about 7 or so (early to mid 70's)...one of the AWA's biggest draws was there...my mother has seen more drunk wrestlers that you can shake a stick at...my mother still has photos of me with Andre the Giant...Bobby Heenan...Mad Dog Vachon...Jerry Blackwell...Greg and Verne Gagne, most of them very drunk with me on thier shoulders...wonder if I was ever dropped on my head back then..would explain alot know.

I've got to hit that Hustler's. Haven't even been in and it's just down the street from my place. Have been to the one in Ft. Lauderdale though.

As for wrestling...yeah, I used to dig it back in the day. Someone mentioned Roddy Piper...last time I checked, there was a "Rowdy" in front of that, so show some respect and use it now. :)

Beyond that, you can't go wrong with your good ol' luchadors. Santos, Blue Demon, Mil Mascaras, Espectro, Rayo de Jalisco...even got new guys like Rey Mysterio (though they can't hold a candle to the old guys from the 50's/60's).

Say, speaking of which...The Cramps used to have a killer song about an old 50's wrestler, The Crusher....do the hammer-walk you turkey necks...

The Ramones did it on their last album (Adios Amigos) with C Jay singing - it kicks arse too :)

How about Classy Freddie Blassie singing "Pencil Neck Geek" or "Blassie, King of Men"?

Thank You AVB. I couldn't remember Blassie's name for the life of me. Must be ETOH induced organic brain syndrome ;)

Doc.

Ah, The Crusher....truly a wrestler after our own hearts.

The Crusher(Reggie Lisowski)still looked big and strong till the day he died. His son said he worked out every day and did his regular workout the day he died. He was 79.

I saw him at a Friday fish fry back in 1998 or so and he still looked like he could wrestle. BTW, he had a stogie in his mouth. :)

Hi, Swifty! Yes, they were great professional wrestlers. By the way, Doctor X and The Intelligent Sensational Destroyer are one and the same person. You might enjoy visiting this web site: http://www.thedestroyer.com/Default.htm There is some interesting information on this site. Regards, knightlaird
