doubtful. 5-600 is alot. Plus games and any other damn accessories they make you buy. That can buy alot of cigars...I mean x-mas gifts. :D Good luck on your search Shooter!

The way I look at it. You are getting a BLu-Ray DVD play for 600 instead of a 1000... Thats how I pawned it off on the wife..

"We have a HDTV, we need a HDDVD player to hook up to it, and what a deal 600 instead of 1000"

"Oh that is a deal, honey"

That's how I roll...

Good luck finding one anywhere near MSRP. Sony annouced that they may have trouble meeting the intial release number of PS3 in the US and Japan. Hell, Ebay even set limits on people selling their per-order tickets!

Too much money for me, and the Blue-ray DVD is nice, but what scares me is that Blue ray discs might lose out to the other format that's being pushed. ???

I'd just wait it out, it doesn't look like the PS3 has a blockbuster title for release, however the Nintendo Wii looks like it may have some better titles for release, as well as a console flipping concept to boot. In addition the xbox 360 just released a slew of great titles, and apparently the new "Halo" of first person shooters called "Gears of War". I saw it in the store and had to get it, it has pretty much blown away anything I have seen before and looks awesome on HDTV.

Times like these I like having a buddy who works at bestbuy. Could just have him grab one and hide it for me. Will be interesting to see it though.

...now that $400 we just saved can go towards those cigars you were telling me about the other day!

Then you woke up.

Yeah, I have to exhaust all my christmas funds to get the kid one...or try to anyways. I don't think all of the christmas presents I got from my parents when I was a kid added up to what we're planning on shelling out for this! Oh well...such is life.

Home video game systems peaked way back when with this:

For those who have a 360 and want a HD-DVD player, Microsoft is releasing a portable player that connects to the 360. It will be $199. Note, of course, that this is HD-DVD and not Blu-Ray.

Checkit here.
