Is this going to be the worst cigar ever?
And if so will the entire box be like this one or is it safe to try another purchase out of the box?
Thanks for the help.

Smoke it and find out.
I have had quite a few cigars that smelled like, well, ass or horse manure and smoked quite well, sweet even for the maduro ones.

Try and detect the type of smell, some putrid smells are good but some may be mold, wet, and raunchy damp smelling which indeed should be sent back or replaced.Dont smoke moldy smelling cigars, the inside could be where the mold lies and no sign on the outside at all.I usually light, taste, and decide.

I had an Upmann maduro a couple weeks ago that smelled just like a horse barn, and a pretty dirty one at that. The thing smoked and tasted just fine.

Not ammonia Smitty. Someone took a bathroom break mid stream in this one, the cigar I mean . The foul smell is located directly in the center of the cigar nowhere else.
Thanks for the welcome penguin.

I'd set it aside and sample another one. If the second didn't taste good, return em. I really enjoyed the epicure. Hope the rest work out for you. And, welcome aboard from another newbie.

I'd smoke it.

I'd suggest you introduce yourself in the Introductions thread. Its your choice on how much or little you put in your profile.
