Hi

From what I have read it seems like a torch type lighter is the best for cigars. I see the prices vary a lot on various lighters and I guess it all depends on the make and quality. But is there a big point of having a double or triple torch style lighter? Anyone got any experience with the Xikar Executive Lighter?

Triple torches can be nice due to the amount of heat they put out and the size of the flame, but in reality a good single torch is just as effective. The Xikar lighers are very nice as well as the Blazer lighters. The PB-207 and CG001 are very good lighters and the PB-207 especially holds a very large amount of fuel for tons of lights between fills.
You really can't go wrong with Xikar or Blazer.

Ditto. The Xikar's have a lifetime warranty. I also have a blazer PB207 that is about 9 years old and still going strong!!!

If I were to buy a lighter,and I wouldn't, I'd only buy one with a lifetime warranty.

I have had the best luck with a $5 Ronson lighter I bought at wal-mart. It has worked better than any other. Have not tried a Blazer or Xikar however. just my $0.02

I have a Blazer PB-207 that was bought in 94 or 95. When I started smoking cigars I got it out of my toolbox. It still had fuel and lights on the first try. I also like the fact it has lock so I can toast the foot without holding down on the button.

i have the executive and i always have problems with it but just to lazy to send it to Xikar, i was talking to a rep that told me the executive was their first forey into lighter market and it was an outsourced lighter that they threw their name on it and have had problems with it but that if i brought it to the store or sent it in they would fix that for me. when it does work i love it especially because of the side ignition button. its only 20 bucks so for the money its pretty good.

True. My understanding is that any retailor that sells Xikar will either fix the lighter or replace it. I think there might be a small convenience fee for this though, as the retailor has to in turn send the broke lighter back in to Xikar. I sent my broke Executive into Xikar and had a brand new lighter in the mail within a week. Its this kind of service that keeps me a faithful user of thier products.

I have had good luck with my Xikar lighter. I vowed not to buy another torch, but a buddy had one for a while and had no problems. The best thing about it is the ability to go to the local cigar shop and get a swap for a new one.

Any reason why you don't want to buy a lighter? Do you only use matches to light the cigar?
Yes, there is a reason, I have a drawer full that don't work.

I hear ya, Doc. Feelin the pain on these torch lighters... Out of say, 20~ only a handful of keepers. They are available for super-super cheap on some lesser-known sites though...

As to warranties for these.... Well, lets say it is a hassle. Xikar is not bad though.
