My son is currently in the army. He has two week left at Foot Hood TX. Then he is being deployed to Kuwait for three week then onto Iraq. God bless him.

I don't have a natural son deployed, but I've got a young man leaving next week who might as well be my son. In fact, last weekend, we had a party for him here at the house. Most of his family was here, along with close friends who either had people deployed or would have soon. It seemed right doing it on Memorial day weekend.
We have a large family, 6 kids. My "quasi" son
is the oldest of 5. He and all his siblings were born right between all of ours. I've known him since he was just a few months old. He and all his sibbies are just like ours. All the years they were growing up, they were as apt to be here as at home. My kids were that way too, that is, virtually living at both houses. To say we are all close would be a gross understatement.
Dougie began as a reservist. He lives a couple of hours away but most of his training was done nearby. So for the last year and half, he's had his own bunk here. He stays with us anytime he is in the area.
He's trained as a chopper wrench. He'll be working on Chinooks over there.
Like I said, he leaves next week. I'm very proud of him and I'll miss him terribly.

My nephew did two tours over there, he's back now, safe and sound. God Bless all our men and women over there, They make me proud to be an American.

While not currently deployed, my oldest son has joined the Marines and will head off to basic in October. He's running / hitting the gym every day, and doing PT's with his recruiter and other enlistees once a week.

Thank you, Bruce - as you can imagine, I'm proud beyond words that my son has chosen to serve. A couple of the guys on the forums have met him here. Yes, he smokes cigars with his dad..... :thumbs:
