Rare Cigar Collector’s Items - Value?

I have what I think may be a pretty rare collector’s item(s) and I would love to hear some input on what I really have.

I recently came into possession of a box of (I think) six 6 inch cigars from Mike Ditka’s 1985 Super Bowl collection. The box is still sealed, and even has the original bar code on the bottom. With the box, I have 7 cigar tubes signed by Mike Ditka, with the original cigars and paper Super Bowl ring on the cigars.

What do I have here? Is this work anything? I’ve seen online that the cigar tubes can go for a bit of money, and I found someone with a similar cigar box that was opened and appraised. I also did some digging and the person I acquired these from has very close ties to the company who sold these 40 years ago, so I am confident these are real. I would love to hear input and figure out what I really have here! Maybe advice on where to go next? Thanks!

The bottom line is you have several memorabilia autographs from Mike Ditka. Without certifiable proof of how the cigars have been stored, the cigars aren't worth anything. That being said, you are better off going to a memorabilia forum.

@CigarStone is right. For this to be worth anything really, you should have the autographs authenticated by PSA or JSA. They have in-person authentication options, but you have to go to them and same day authentication is only at some events or locations. You basically have this without the authentications that really give it its value (1 card per cigar); and even that price was self picked by the poster--it could be worth less. The cigar themselves are old, but they were not that premium to begin with (many are Graycliff) and you cannot prove they have been well cared for which ruins the value. A simple google search will show you that these were sold at Costco; and some appear to have been sold there signed although I suppose it could have been a special event there with Mike.

Also, you should introduce yourself in the new members forum.

Thanks for the info!! I’ll definitely look into getting these looked at by PSA or JSA. I wondered if having a still-sealed box that was never sold might end up being worth more than some similar postings online. I think the cigars are completely worthless now, but I was curious what thoughts were on the original cigar still in the tube.

I’m super curious to see what I even have here so this was super helpful!! Thank you!

Posted in a couple memorabilia places to crowd source a bit more. Thanks for the advice! I’m looking into getting some certificates for the autographs.
