It is a stand alone unit but is designed to work with this Link base so you don't have to open your humidor to check the temp and RH.
That price of $7.97 is a steal from Radioshack, see if you can find the base unit from them.

Ok, so it will work without something else, correct? Like I can just stick it in my humi and it will work?

You can get a Nexxtech remote unit from Circuit City.

According to the reviews, you can use it with the RS sensors.

It's awful nice to not have to open the humis to see the temp & RH.
