Really only detriment...

I keep having visions of Rod not being home, but out surfing in some hot spot. Then, coming home to a kicked in door and a house that was searched in the name of welfare and something he maybe shouldn't have had, confiscated.

Nah, given the whole picture, a pretty good gag. The Arcadia cops were aware that this was a gag. They'd have said no if they weren't up for it.

Personally I find this funny as sh!t. I would have invited the guys in for a drink.

Even if he looked like this:

Banging on the windows? Hmmmm. Well, all I can say is don't ever pull anything like that on someone with kids.

I'm glad to see all the parties involved are 'cool' with it...

Just like any other joke, you have to know your target.

It seems like Rod was fine with this, so that's all that matters.

If one of my friends pulled something similar to me, I would not be OK with it. In fact, I'd be pretty pissed off about it not just because of the fear it would instill throughout my household, but also because of the waste of police resources. Maybe Arcadia is different, but there's plenty for our law enforcement officers to do up here without making joke calls.

I still think that everyone is fortunate that this didn't turn out badly. It certainly had the potential to turn out differently than it did.

While it was a little interesting how the cops went about their little checkup (as they were in on this), all in all, not a bad prank. Like Jon said - "know your audience". Having worked with APD and the LASD, I know most of the force; though not these two guys. One guy looked like the cop from Superbad, which was pretty odd, especially considering the circumstances.

Nice prank, Jon. Revenge is a bitch. ;) :whistling:
