A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of sampling Remy 1738 and XO Excellence. I normally drink Remy VSOP because to my palette, it is the best for its price range. The XO which was much more expensive, had a similar flavor profile while being much smoother. I had a glass of 1738 which I found also similar in flavor but also noticably smoother than the VSOP. I can usually pick up the VSOP for around $32. I found the 1738 for $48. I think I found my new fave. While I can surely appreciate XO and higher (i.e. Louis VIII at $1200), I tend to be a practical person. I cannot logically see spending more than $50 on less than a quart of any drink. Just wanted to spout off about how much I like the 1738 FWIW. It is where the lines of praticallity and fancy tastes meet for me.
