Actually they play for Navy. Most of their officers go to Canoe U. as well. Hell, one of 'em might have been a QB, but I doubt it. That takes intelligence.

That's true. They're all midshipmen. They ain't Naval officers until after graduation, either. Sportscasters identify them as Marines. That's good enough for me.

Williams joined the Navy Reserve on May 22, 1942, went on active duty in 1943, and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps as a Naval Aviator on May 2, 1944.

I have a similar story. This was early 1970, or so. My first Chief was from Tennessee and a man of his times. Well, to make a long story short the Navy told him he could no longer be a "man of his times". He complied, and now lived his life in a two colored world, blue and green. He knew who put butter on his bread.
