Does anybody where one of these and notice any benefit? Is it all a scam?

I tried one last year and didn't notice any improvement in my chronic knee pain. My father in law wears one all the time and swears by it's effectiveness against his arthritis.

I guess this isn't really helpful, but in my experience it either works for you or it doesn't and the only way to know if it does is to try it out for a few weeks.

Does this make it a scam? I don't know. If it helps someone by mere suggestion I suppose it has worked. If it doesn't help, maybe it doesn't work for that particular person. I think it's kind of like accupuncture or other holistic stuff. Some people poo-poo it and others swear by it.

guy at work swears by his bracelet, wears it all the time. like lil bastige said, whatever works for you! myself, i'm too much of a critic. :p

I took a class in college called "Science vs Pseudoscience". One of the topics we covered was magnetic therapy, and the psuedoscience behind them.

What I really got out of the discussion was that there really isn't too much medical science behind them, but the placebo effect is unbelieveably high in them. So if they work for you, keep them on, but don't hope for a miracle...

I have worn one for about 10 years. Never had arthritis.

I have a bad back.... three herniated discs.... L3-4, L4-5, L5-S1.... I can tell you that magnetic therapy does help to an extent. What the magnets are supposed to do is increase the blood flow to that particular area and help in the healing process The magnets should be a certain gouse (sp) and the polarity of the magnet facing your body is also important. One of the things that I did learn about magnets is that you don't want to use them right after an injury. That will actually increase the blood flow to the area and make the injury more painful. You always want to use ice for the first 24 hrs after an initial injury. I'm sure if you did some Google searches on Magnetic Therapy you will find a shit load of information.

This is only my opinion and my 2¢... I am in no way a medical expert... I just know what works for me..... but I have never purchased the bracelet.....

for a magnet to do anything it would have to have a magnetic field strong enough to penetrate the skin..

Non of the magnet products on the market produce enough field to even go through a piece of paper, let alone the skin..

even refrigerator magnets are stronger then the bracelets sold.. and a magnet strong enough to penetrate the skin would have to be much stronger

Depends on what your after i guess. If its joint issues there been allot of talk about Glucosamine & Chondroitin supplements. My father started taking it 3 months ago for his shoulders and fingers. He said it dose get rid of the pain and cracking. He doesn’t think it’ll actually heal anything but hell its better then nothing I guess. I would say the placebo effect myself but he shoulders used to literally crack every time he worked on something. They don’t anymore.

Not sure about medical usage, but I can gaurantee they don't help your golf swing any. :angry2:

I had a friend try one a while back. Didn't help him at all, but he still wears it to this day. I think he likes it cause he never has to look too far to find a paperclip when he needs one! :p
