So, my friend brought over a few bottles of these Sam Adams, and I normally HATE all of the Sam Adams brews, but since I was out of my regular awesome Miller Lite, I was forced to try this. I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth this beer was; and very creamy. I normally do not like to combine creamy with beer, but this goes down surprisingly well. I don't think I would drink this on a regular basis, but I think if I was at a party where all they had was Sam Adams, I would know what to go for. I am thinking a nice AVO Robusto would complement this beer well. :)

Miller lite ain't beer. It's water that someone waved a sprig of hops over. Seriously though, I'm a big SA fan and the owner is a friend to home brewers everywhere. Are you aware that Sam Adams is the only beer made in the USA that can pass German purity laws? Those laws, by the way, were written in 1510. Makes you wonder what American brewers are putting in their suds. ???

Doc.

Bud Select, here. ;)

Guiness here. SA is having a home brew contest. It was formerly only open for employees. The winner gets a full production run of their home brew. Pretty neat I thought.

Never was a big fan of any Hefeweizen over in Germany, they just left a dry taste in my mouth. I was always a Dunkel or Pils fan.

But since I was back in the states it'd always been Bud Select.

Just a few more weeks till I go on R&R leave and get to pound a few.

I do like SA though.

Oh by the way when someone this board gets drunk off Coresendonk, lemme know. AKA monks brown ale.

Spent six years in Germany and fell in love with the local Brewery. The closest I could find in the USA is a small brewery in Shiner, Texas.

Shiner Bock gets my vote.

And.... the first weekend of every October in Fredericksburg, TX they have an Oktoberfest with authentic German Beer. I'll have to miss it this year but not the one in 2007. :rolleyes
