So I'm headed to San Diego the end of this month (20th- 24th) for a fairly large work event. The CAD software I use has their yearly conference here this year.

Anyways, I am trying to plan ahead on some stuff to do while we are there. I will be busy during the day, but evenings are open. The agenda is pretty much wide open, but each night we will be looking for a good restaurant and a place to have some drinks, and possibly a cigar. I was thinking there are some strict smoking laws there, but not sure.

I've heard that San Diego has some great seafood, but the thing try while you are there are the fish tacos. The last 4 months I have been craving one of these damn things

Hopefully I can get some good info on where what and how to do things while there. Good restaurant suggestions, etc. maybe even some good info on Tijuana??? Some of the reviews I was reading say that just over the border you can find some fantastic food!

thanks
E

I hear they have many things to see in TJ at night :whistling:

LCDH is there, say hello to Moises!

Oh, there is plenty to see there at night, no doubt. Personally, it's just too risky for me. Maybe it's not as bad as it was 10 years ago when I was in college but I personally know of a couple people who went down there at night to party and never came back. :(

TJ is still dangerous at night, especially if you are out drinking.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM TJ! I grew up in San Diego and you do NOT want to go the land of Dysentery, Donkey Shows, and Federales. Downtown is great and North County is even better. Give Putz a ring he's in the area I grew up near. Don't forget to have fish tacos (fish borritto at Filiberto's in Encinitas is great too) and of course In-n-Out Burgers, some fine So Cal meat!

For fish taco, try South Beach Bar & Grille. It's a beach bar type of place not upscale, but the tacos are great. Hodad's across the street has good burgers. Always crowded.

For upscale restaurants, stay in downtown. Plenty of places there.

We'll definitely have to plan a night for a herf. Contact the official Herf-Master (Putz Mulligan) in San Diego for that!

What is all the hubbub?! Erick, looking forward to your visit and I am sure we can accommodate you epicurean and smoking whims! I know I am available for at least one night!

Have fun in San Diego. Go to the Gaslamp district. I always have a good time at Dick's Last Resort. A room can be had at the Marriot Courtyard for a decent price. There are a lot of places to get cigars in the Gaslamp district. There is also a very good cigar shop in Old Town San Diego.

You should avoid TJ. If you want to get a "nasty disease or infection" then TJ is a good spot. There are 2 good cigar shops there, but the prices are pretty steep.
