I unexpectedly have next week off and was thinking about going to Santo Domingo for a few days and perhaps take in a cigar factory tour or 2. Any recommendations on areas to stay, and tours to take would be appreciated.

Ditto! But I have to say, heading to Santo Domingo and doing some of the tours is a long time bucket list item of mine. So, if you go I will be jealous!
