Say hello to my little friend...

What he said. My hound got stung by a yellow jacket once and she never made a sound; she just shook it off. Her muzzle swelled up like a balloon.

Doc.

I guess I should have figured that out when he got his first shot, and he slept through it :D. I have started the leash training process (so much fun ). He definately is taking over the house already.
If you're not prepared for that hound to become a full fledged member of your household, you got the wrong dog. You need to asert your inner alpha hound.

He is already like a third child :D. He seams to be a pretty smart pup. Has started to learn shake and sit (although he is laying down most of the time, so this one may be a waste). He has definately won over our hearts already (well everyone but the cats anyway).

This breed is much smarter than most people think. The trick is to get them to want to do what you're trying to get them to do. If you can't convince them that it is in their best interest to do what you're asking them (in a gentle but persuasive way), you're going to have a lot of trouble training him. They are really smart, but stubborn as all hell!

Good luck to you. You seem to be off to a good start.

As you can see, current and former Basset owners are dedicated to the breed. They are very special. Too many of our beloved friends end up in Basset rescue because people don't do their research and get in over their heads. They're a quirky breed but with a little understanding your dog will be the best friend you ever had. It's been two yrs. since Sophie passed and I miss her dearly. I've just got to the point where I'm considering another. Maybe in the spring.

Doc.

I forgot one very important thing. They hate to be alone.

Glad to hear you are back up and fighting Eric.

Now you have someone who will always love you, no matter what!

I love dogs, hate shite, cats are cleaner :whistling:

My family and I had an English Bulldog several years back, and they definately share alot of the same stubborn traits. You can call their name, and they will turn and look at you like, "You talkin' to me?". So far, Bailey has alot of those same traits :D. But, he seems to be very bright, and eager to please thus far.
