I'm headed to the DC area next week and have scheduled a tour of Baltimore for the family. The cool things is that we will be riding on Segways. I've always wanted to ride one of these things, and my kids are stoked also. The wife... not so much.

Anyone own or ever ridden one of these? It's an easy process from what I understand, but any tips/suggestions?

It's a totally different feeling at first. Take it slow and follow what the instructor says. Once you're on it for a few minutes you'll be able to get going pretty easily. In fact, you'll be able to just think of going forward, as a reaction your body will move ever so slightly, and the device will begin forward. They're truly genius, they just look silly. :D

The shop that I work at in the ski resort in winter decided to buy like 6 and rent them out over the summer just for some fun for my boss since he makes bank in the winter and thats all he works. Went up there a couple weeks ago and took one out for a spin. Really fun little things, especially for cruising around and sightseeing. Should be a blast man have fun.

Wear a helmet...

People rent them out here in the touristy area (at least they used to). They were very popular and a lot of fun.

We had a lobbyist at the State Capitol who had a hard time walking and got permission from the Capitol Police to use one of these in the building. He said it was a little tricky at first to get used to but like most things, once you're used to it, it's very easy to use.

 CC, where you been? I've seen you post every now and then, but nothing like your old self. I'm having withdrawals and I can't be the only one missing you!

I'm excited about the trip! And my boys (14 and 16) can hardly wait. I'm gonna keep that pic of W away from the wife until after the trip, though!

I dunno Steve, many others around here seem to be doing a pretty good job of dealing with the nutjobs so by the time I see the threads, there's not a whole lot to say. :(

Okay how about if I tell you to "STFU a$$hat?" Will that suffice?

(j/k) ;)

Yer getting old, Bill. It's teen speak.

Geez, I guess so, my teenagers are 33 & 31 years old now........

However, I do have a friend who has a 19 year old daughter but she just got back from a year abroad in Germany and all she does now is swear at us in German. :(
