Sept. 11th! God Bless America!

We were at the Texas Vs. Ohio state game last night. When they played the National Anthem EVERYONE was singing. It was the loudest I have ever heard it sung. I had a hard time holding back the tears for a college friend lost on 9/11. After that day the Star Spangled Banner took on an entirely new importance to me.

We will never forget...

The Flight That Fought Back

2 hour special on the flight that went down before it hit it's mark because of true American Hero's - Discovery Channel tonight starting at 9PM (repeated 2 more times right after each other)

A lot of shows have been on today because of the anniversary and I have had time to watch several of them. It has been hard to reimmerse myself with all the emotions that came with that day and in the days after, but this is the day to do that and to reflect on what it meant to us all.
Just got done watching the show IgwanaRob mentioned earlier it was probably the hardest to watch, but most touching, because it focused so clearly on the connections between people on that day. Reminds us all how quickly life can slip away from you and not to let it. Thanks for directing me to it rob.

The events of September the 11th will never be forgotten.

I hope no one ever forgets.....

That was the exact discussion I was having with my father with smoking a cigar with him tonight.

It was the first time since the attack that we discussed what we did on that day and the days following.

A couple of days after the attack my wife asked me if I would bring her to "Ground Zero" on one of my only days off. I took her as close as I would let her get without being in the way or in danger, it was very emotional.

We then stopped at a small gathering in Chinatown where a group of Asian men and women had gathered to pray for the victims. It did not matter that I did not understand a word that they were saying, we where all there for the same reason. There was also a small band and then this crowd starts to sing "Amazing Grace". It was one of the most heartfelt things I have ever seen. A group of people who could hardly speak any english trying their hardest to sing "Amazing Grace" in english. That showed me that they were proud to be Americans or to live in America and that they too were affected by the attacks. Then, like a perfectly orchestrated scene, a flatbed truck rolls past us with a huge piece of steel from the Trade Centers. You could have heard a pin drop and there was not a dry eye at the gathering.

Sorry for the "thread jack".... that is just one of my nicer stories from that incident.

That was a very sincere tribute to flight 93. I was moved quite a bit watching it and listening to the families share thier last few minutes spent with the passengers on that flight. It was a very humbling program.

I'm glad that there are still people willing to give of themselves so unselfishly.
