Serenity the movie

One of the best sci-fi shows in the past 20 years, cancelled way before it's time and given a second life because of fan outpouring and DVD sales just like with Farscape (my all time favorite sci-fi show).

I can't wait to see the Hero of Canton back in action ;)

my girlfriends seen it twice already she loved it.
shes a real buffy fanatic so im sure shes heard of the firefly but i gotta tell her about it anyway, now i wanna see the series and the movie...
guess she'll have to see it a third time, and ill be hunting down the series on dvd

Is it coming back to life as a seiries? Or is Sci Fi just reruns?

I believe that they stated that it won't return as a series, but Serenity was the first of 3 movies signed for. With as much interest as people have shown in it, and how well it did at the theatres, I would be surprised if they didn't give the series another go, though.

*cough*

The nerd side of OutlawD is typing. (meaning: the girlfriend mentioned before.)

I'd just like to answer some questions raised throughout the thread. First: to the guy who said they didn't seem to want to give it a chance. No. they didn't. They didn't air the first two episodes until they were cancelling the show, and, I'm sure if you compare the DVD order to the airing order (can easily be found be searching tvtome.com for firely), you'll notice some discrepancies.

Nobel: I've been lead to believe that, pending this movies results, there could be two more in the works. After that, depending on how well the movie franchise, I was told there could be a return of the series. Kinda seems silly to do that, to me, though. That, though, is heresay, as I'm taking my prone-to-exaggeration best friend's word on that.

Yes, awesome movie. I will, of course, be dragging outlaw to a showing. Then heading out to buy the series.

If you are not opposed to purchasing it, you can get it at Bestbuy for $40 or so, or $30 off of Amazon.  I recommend it as a purchase, because the characters are well developed and likeable, giving it some decent replay value.

Opposed to purchasing ... nah!
But... I am really into trying before I buy :) Plus I have to run a purchase through THE MAN, but not a rental :)
See it's loopholes that make the world go around :)

There's alway BitTorrent...great for finding episodes of now defunct series. ;)

Thanks!

The new Dirick went around and registered her own name, so I guess you're stuck with the old Dirick and me. Not as much fun as split personalities, but slightly more practical.

Alright, I picked up the complete season (14 episdoes) DVDs for Firefly... hope it's as good as the movie!

Moki - I head the original series had a two hour "pilot" movie that SciFi channel showed. Does the DVD set come with that movie or just the episodes...??

Cheers - B.B.S.

This topic really made me want to see Firefly. I've heard much praise of it before, but this might just serve as a trigger.

I'll have to check it out. Do you guys recommend watching the DVD's first or is it ok to go see the movie?

The movie works very well on it's own. I went with a friend that hadn't seen any of the tv episodes and he really enjoyed it. Having watched the tv show and being more invested in the characters it was even more fun for me. Either way it's very entertaining.

Yeah the DVD sets come with all 14 episodes, only 9 of which (I think?) actually aired.

So did you watch the series yet Moki?

I saw the first 3 episodes when the series originally ran and was really impressed, then couldn't find episodes after that. I borrowed the disks from a friend in Stockholm and just watched the first 11 episodes on the plane yesterday. Awesome series, it made the Stockholm - Tucson journey much shorter. Didn't get any sleep because of this. Can't wait to see the movie and although I've got 2 weeks at home to see it, I'll probably do it this weekend.
