Server Issues

Oh boy... I posted a few samplers in the BST and I can't remember what each included, who bought what, who PM'ed me, etc..... awesome. So now I have money orders coming for samplers that I don't know what to include.

Advice, anyone?

Thanks for all your hard work though, Rod.

Send them all to me. :whistling:

DB too BIG?

That does not sound good. Once it gets too big it is almost impossible to manage.
I was thinking, and I have seen this on other sites, they lock down threads that haven't had a reply in 6 months.
Keeping old threads from being resurrected can help with speed.

As for keeping the size down, the only thing I can think of is to split it into multiple DBs.
I have a friend of mine who is a DB Admin expert, if you need help, I can see if I can arrange a discussion to talk about the available options.

Either way you have some hard decisions to make for the future. Good luck.

Thanks

There's really no reason why a database should become corrupted simply because it is "too large" -- nor will locking old threads help with performance either.

I'm assuming Rod is using MySQL for the backend... the only real limitation of a 4gb database size limit, but even that is easily fixed.

The cause of the corruption is unlikely to be that the database is "too large".
