The Gov. of California (Arnold Schwarzenneger) has a pretty cool restaurant down in Santa Monica. It has a large covered patio, and since our governor is a cigar "aficionado", cigar smoking there is welcomed. Not sure if you all heard that smoking has now been banned in Santa Monica. I wonder how this is going to affect Arnold's restaurant. You'd think our Gov would have a firmer stance on protecting cigar smoking in California, but I guess he's caught up in all of the politics as well. Too bad...

it use to piss me off when this stuff started in Canada, now I don't care, I have discovered smoking cigars alone at home and I enjoy it very much... I would almost rather not smoke in public now because so many people make negative comments... cigars have become more of a meditation/personal relaxation activity now rather than a social thing.

Just got a smoking ban here in Louisville, starts July 1st. We already had one which I thought was a great idea.. If 60% of your sales comes from food then no smoking, now it is a total smoking ban, EXCEPT for the horse track, oddly enough the city owns that... BULLSHIT if you ask me. I am still trying to find out if cigar shops are exempt...

If it’s like the ban here in Colorado any business that derives a majority of their revenue from Tobacco would be exempt. Most restaurants are completely smoke free, but I have noticed that a couple of the high end steak houses still offer the cigar lounge like always.
