sorry if this is a repost; search yielded nothing.

Anyhow, i was reading the BBC today, and caught this gem: "A tobacco smoking ban has come into effect in cafes, bars and restaurants in the Netherlands...(but)Patrons of cannabis cafes will still be allowed to smoke marijuana as long as it is not mixed with tobacco."
Linky
So in other words, smoking a cigar with your cofee at a amsterdam cafe is illegal, but you are more than welcome to light up a bowl.

Funny stuff.

This leaves me speechless, how can someone arrive at this conclusion? ??? :0

Yea, I saw that a few days back. It doesn't even shock me anymore, the hypocritical bullshit that is rife in most governments regarding smoking tobacco. You can smoke a spliff in a 'coffee house' over there, but tobacco (which does NOT alter the state of mind of its user) is banned. Surely the spliff is going to cause more problems than a cigar will?

But the big picture is the muckiest of all. Governments who are fervently anti smoking are focusing on smaller issues like where we can smoke etc, in hopes we will ignore rising crime rates, ridiculous cost of living, unnecessary wars etc. It is small-issue politics, and it is designed to keep our minds from focusing on the real issues. Too bad it impairs our freedom of choice in the process, allowing government supported discrimination against anyone who decides to light up a legally obtainable product.

It it starting to make me really, really, incredible angry. This latest story is set to push me over the edge.

looks like they have the support from all their fellow pothead out there...which is basically everyone and their mom and grandma. Rediculous

Here is a quote from Time Magazine that sums it up nicely:

"In other countries they look for marijuana in the cigarette. Here they look for the cigarette in the marijuana."
