Smoking Room

The key to all this is that you don't keep the ashes and cigar butts in the room after you are finished.

Good luck with your project. Take care of your wife as she sounds like she likes a little. :D

I used a 300 CFM quiet exhaust fan vented outside plus a charcoal/hepa filter. Been smoking in it 2.5 years sometimes 5-7 cigars at once and the next morning can't smell a thing. Make sure you don't have a lot of carpet and leather furniture helps too. Also, I remove the ashes after every smoke, that helps a long way to eliminating the smell. In this picture I have upgraded the fan, tv, and added a leather couch.

Do you have any problems with smoke escaping up into the next floor, or is the fan sufficient to exhaust it outside? My main concern is not so much the smell that reamins in the room as much as it's keeping smoke out of the rest of the house.

No problems at all. There are no returns in the room, which is important and it seals with the door. The fan creates enough air flow into that room that the smoke does not escape. I usually let it run for an hour or 2 after smoking just to cycle the air.

Thanks. Your setup is similar to what I was thinking about for my place. I think that fan size would probably work for me.

whoa.... that's incredible. Talk about the ultimate Man Room! :whistling:

It's really intended to be a place for our weekly poker game, but it works well for just having a cigar too, because of the ventilation system, it being separate from the house, etc.

Doc, you're just down the road from me... if you're ever in Rochester, let me know.

Andrew, I do get over there every now and then so I'll email you next time I have a trip planned. I'd sure love to smoke a cigar or two in that barn, and I'll even bring the cigars!

I might move back to the Roc just to hang out in the Rimdog barn!!

Any time you're in town... feel free. We're playing our first games of poker there tonight. Sadly, the custom poker tables won't be done for another few weeks, so we'll have to slum it on some portable tables. Ah well.

I didn't get an invite

If cost is an issue, just put a fan in the window that blows out and try to use leather or pleather for your furniture, sit by the window with the fan and go for it. Just a thought. ;)
