Have you had any expierience with delivery companies? Of course they leave packages, thanks normal for most of the big guys (UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS) - unless you specifically request a signature at time of delivery.

The plot thickens;
I go next door and tell my neighbor about what happens and my neighbor tells me that about 4 hours earlier a kid on a bicycle who she had never seen before and doesn't live in our neighborhood was riding by our house and was looking in the back of her pick up truck as he rode past.
then after he passes by her truck he turns back towards our house. she was watching him carefully thinking he was going to steal something out of her truck but instead rode back by my house. UNFORTUNATLEY my motor home blocks her view after their driveway and she lost site of him. obviously he he spied the box sitting on my porch and took it the thieving bastard.
I have packages expected for delivery today including ammunition I ordered for my hunting trip. needless to say I left the dog tied up in the front yard with just enough leash so the UPS guy could get the package on the porch.
It wont be stolen today I promise you that.

WOW am I good I was just about to say this when I read your last post:

you can easily and cheaply set up a wireless spy camera, with IR capabilites for the darkness, and do sone time lapse from your computer to capture the thief. then send yourself a package and hand the video over to the cops. if it is us mail, this is a federal offence, and your thief will be in jail for quite some time to think about what they have done. here is a link to a camera place...

sorry to hear of your troubles. hopefully, it was a random occurrence rather than someone targeting you in particular. i know youre concerned about shipments from vendors at the moment, but i think your experience should be a warning to all of us. it seems like a good idea for senders of packages to refrain from posting dc#s on the open forum--particularly during big box passes. this community seems to be pretty tightly knit with honest folks, but you never know what sorts of unsavory characters could be visiting this board and others like it. as many members have their addresses posted in their profiles, a determined thief would have an easy time knowing who and when to target.
That's just wrong but it does happen. I would set up a small camera like others have suggested to see if this kid shows up again. He may be making rounds and staking out the neighborhood to see what else is around. This kid will keep this up until he's caught, but in the mean time he will cause some damage.
