I'll be a sumbee-atch if some jackoff didn't sneak into the woods and steal my freakin' treestand! They even stole the tree spikes(the ones you screw in).

Now before I get the, "....well ya shoulda chained it onto the tree...etc" BS, I have to say I wanted to but my brother talked me out of it. He said, "...ain't nobody gonna come in here and steal that...." Yea right!! ???

So I'm out $80.00 and a tree stand. Justice will be mine.

I'm sure they'll roll back by there to see if we put another one up. And I'm sure they'll roll by there after dark. So, what I plan to do is leave a sign by the new stand stating it is hazardous to your health to steal this stand. I then plan on puttin' razor blades on some of the pegs so when they grab on, slice-ville! :p And, since there is no way to tell who had access to the stand and could have put the blades on there, recourse is minimal. I'll just use my climber and hunt somewhere else!

Just a thought! Heck, I wouldn't have minded if they hunted in the darn thing as long as they were gone by the time I got there. Just sucks they stole the darn thing. Hopefully they come back while I close by. Couple of shots across their bow may be in order!! FOCKERS!!! :sneaky:

I hope ya catch the bastid's Floyd

Just because you leave something in the woods DOES NOT mean "finders keepers" for the scumbag who came along and took it.

I would think it might be easy to track it down eventually or you may come across the jackoffs by pure luck ;) I hope you do ;) God help them....... :p

When they catch the guys, I can imagine one of them saying, "You got a purdy mouth."

LMAO

Sorry to hear that Floyd, rock salt in shotgun shells sends a clear message also....... :D

Is the land public? Just curious. Either way, it is really fraustrating that there are people out there that pull that kind of bull****. Just sad. :(

That sucks !
My stands are all on private land that butts up to electric lines. Always some yahoos that have permission to hunt further down track thru mine "just lookin around". I've found home made blinds, tree damage from climber stands. I know who they are and where they park and made it known that as a fellow hunter they are welcome to track deer that were shot on their land , but not to infringe on my spots.

I use the Loggy Bayou "cheap seats" and the 40$ climbing sticks from Strong-Built, so yeah we are right around 80$ too. I even leave my climber in the woods tucked under brush and downed trees.
Hope you do catch them. I always carry a Taurus snub nose 38 under my clothes .. man be careful and keep yourself safe stand grabbers usually bring a lookout.

This might be a bit of a thread jack but I could not resist telling this. It shows what kind of brain surgeons are out there. :0

Most of you know I work for a small rural Sheriff's Department. I had been on the road for a couple of months, still a wide eyed rookie. One day I get a call of a man possibly deceased in a deer stand. I roll up and see a crowd of people by the road. Looking back now I should have realized by the way they were acting, something way beyond a normal dead person was going on. They say he is in the woods about half a mile down the power line. This guy takes me down on his four wheeler.

Well they were not lying about him being down by the power line, they just were a little incorrect. He was in a tree stand which was on a power pole.

Anyway, this guy had a climbing stand and had climbed up the pole nearly to the top. Somehow he put the barrell of his gun on the actual line. According to the power company 40,000 volts runs through the line. He was introduced to that. This caused the power company to flip a switch to send power back through the lines. He met Mr. 40,000 volts again. :0

I skip the gory details, but the power company had to bring their lift trucks to remove him. They filmed the episode and now use it as a don't let this happen to you training film for new employees.

I wonder if I can borrow "40,000 volts" to hook up to my stand! :sign: :sign: :sign: Some folks are just "slow"!

My stand was on private land which had been posted. It butts up to "bank" property(reposessed from an owner who couldn't pay). Like I said though, ya wanna hunt it, just make sure you're gone when I get there. And don't F-up the spot so other deer quit using the area!

Chances of catchin' 'em is slim but just maybe.......

If y'all hunt, be careful. TOO many idiots out there during gun season takin' "Sound Shots" (you know, "...it sounded like a deer but I couldn't see it, so I shot in the general direction.....")

If there's any update, I'll let y'all know.

On one of my familys farms we used to find stands all the time in the woods. Normally we would put a nice little 3x5 card on the stand telling them to leave they were on posted property. Then they usually would just move the stand to somewhere else on our property. I didnt have to buy a new stand for years since I could always count of a good confiscated one, if they were cheap stands we would cut them up and leave them at the bottom of the tree for the owner to get the point.

I am so glad I don't have to deal with idiot hunters ever again. 99% of all hunters obey the rules and are courteous to other hunters and landowners. The other 1% are the idiots, not identifying their target before shooting (nothing like listening to the explainations that some nimrod gives that shoots a farmer's cow thinking it's a deer!), illegally hunting on land without permission, stealing/shooting up stands, shooting from roads, etc.

I always enjoyed catching these clowns, especially when they shot at our decoy deers and they can't figure why the deer didn't fall and shoot it again!

Floyd, good luck in catching that clown. I'd at least would give him a 30 second head start before firing commenced, just to make it fair. :sign:

LMAO @ Bill!!!

The game and fisheries office is right next to my work Bill. They had one of those fake bucks out in the back in the field. I kept wondering why people were pulling off the little road and shining their headlights out there at night!!

Yeah, it is the law that you are allowed to track deer through neighboring properties. I just can't understand the person who thinks it is ok to set up a stand. Poaching is inconceivable to me. :sneaky:

Better yet see if ya can get your hands on a dye packet like they use in fire alarms / Money packs. these carry an arsenic based dye that takes forever to wear off. There by marking this person for months and makeing him the object of attention where ever he goes.
Or just climb up and pee all over his tree stand which will then make it useless as the deers will smell it and keep away from where ever he puts it. :p

I've always wondered about peeing during a hunt. I hunt for long stretches in a day, and my girlish blatter often needs relief. I suppose it depends on your recent diet. If I have been eating nuts and berries the whole week prior, I wouldn't worry about it. As many do, I use fox piss as a cover scent; therefore, I've questioned whether or not human piss would cause alarm. I've imaged that coffee in the morning (before a hunt) would be a bad idea. I can't remember the last time I saw a fox drinking coffee. Anyone have any info about pissing in the woods near your stand?

The first day I ever hunted dear in my life I was in 6th grade. Shortly after getting in the stand I had to pee and did from the stand! When light broke I doe walked under my stand stop to smell my pee and I quickly shot her!!!!

Wow! You could bottle that stuff and sell it at gun shows! :p

Sky,

I have an 8 yr old tree stand just taking up room in the garage. It would please the wife if I got rid of it.

I believe it is a Loc-On Limit. Here's the closest thing I could find.

Mine is grey, the side braces are folding metal instead of a cable. The tree strap is a chain. There is some surface rust on the bolts and chain, but nothing too bad.

It's yours if you want it. Just cover the UPS shipping.

Okay so what can I tell you I am just an ole city kid and wouldn't even know what end of the damn rifle to use ;) but why would they steel a tree stand? Don't the trees stand by themselves.............. :p

No seriously aren't we just talking about a platform that screws into the tree at a determined height. Floyd I think this really sucks why wouldn't they just use the stand for the time they're hunting in the area and leave it there. If you ask me your hunting the wrong animals. These guys need to be gutted and hung to dry!

As for peeing in the woods I hear Depends is coming out with a new Camo 12 pack for hunters this season. Check your latest Cabelas Catelog ROTFLMAO ;)
