got the e-mail from c-bid for delivery tracking, ups picked up the package and took it across the country to my local usps who will deliver it my address. anyone have this happen before? news to me!

The Canadian version of that is some packages that have come to me from the US have been sent USPS, and delivered by Purolator Courier (who are owned by Canada Post). So maybe they (USPS) have agreements with other COurier companies.

I dunno, just my $0.02 worth!

the only reason i bring this up is that this is the first time it has happened. i was under the impression that usps does not tranport tobacco products. is there a change in the wind or is c-bid playing with the description of the contents of the box? inquiring minds are unusually active!

I don't think that's the case. I've had many packages from American Brothers who shipped cigars to me through USPS, and honestly put "cigars" on the Customs documentation.

interesting, i'll have to look into this a little deeper, thanks Newfie!

Hi, sack! Yes, I have received packages shipped to my local post office via UPS, FedEx, or DHL, and then delivered to my home by the USPS. I believe that this is known as economy saver express shipping. I think that this is something fairly new. I guess that the carriers and the postal service have an agreement with each other for this type of shipping and delivery. And, yes, it does seem like an odd way to ship a package! Haha! Have a great day, sack! Regards, knightlaird

My last CBID packages came DHL door to door. Don't know if there's a difference, depending on what part of the country you're in...??

FWIW - B.B.S.

i'm in the chicagoland area, maybe it's more convienent to use subcontractors in the larger cities. seems reasonable!

Anything sent to me via DHL comes by USPS about 2 days late. DHL doesn't stop at my house (kind of in the sticks) even though they have 3 vans that run the highway less than 1/2 mile from my drive.

Makes little sense to me.

All the orders I have placed from Cbid have all come DHL and I am in Chicago also, weird. It is to the point now that anytime my fiancee sees DHL pull up I hear "Babe, your cigars here".

Kind of an outsourcing thing. Typically when in airplane isn’t completely full of passengers they load mail and packages on. Plains use the same amount of fuel to fly regardless of the weight aboard so they load the things up to absorb the cost. As always certain airlines have contracts with the certain shipping companies. To keep things moving smoothly they basically outsource the package to say UPS who is with American Airlines (just an example I have no clue) If they are the only ones flying out that way and have room, then it goes to the sorting facility and trucked to your usps location. With travel being so pricey these days it really improves efficiency.
