I just finished putting together a "server" here at the company for AutoCAD Vault to run on.

AMD 3800+ X2

Abit KN8 Sli

4 gigs of corsair ram

ATI Radeon XT300

2 x Seagate ST3400833NS 400gig HDD in RAID 1

Sounds pretty much like a run of the mill computer doesn't it?

W R O N G !!! <--- click me :D

So far its keeping the 3800+ at 29°c idle :0 Thats better than my watercooling system at home!

Only bad thing about it is the price, 900€ thats quite a bit over $1000 dollars and thats for the case alone.

(I WANT ONE!!!)

Who's case? I have dual AMDs and they sit at 41°c at Idle and 50-55 at high load.

Ahhh, I'd have to do the touchy feely on one before I'd consider buying it. Well, actually I wouldn't buy one myself but before I'd recommend it .

Are you using Corsair XMS memory? i myself have 2gb of it. The recent price drops on AMD chips is great, now if the duelies will drop a little more, i'd certainly grab one! X2 4000 would be sweet!

I have a 4400+ X2 and I love it. And I use OCZ RAM at home. Only 2 gigs since my stupid motherboard only supports >2 gigs if they are single sided RAM.

AVB I spent less money on my first car, so yeah a touchy feely wouldn't be bad. However we needed a fanless computer for a very dusty enviro and this fit the bill perfectly.

I'll run Prime95 on it over night and let you know how hot it gets.

*edit* Hooray for double posts lol

Not to thread jack, but the other day, I hooked my internal phase converter up to my flux capacitor, and now the sky is green and my filing cabinet is dating my ex-girlfriend. :D

So the "company" you work for will spend 6 large ones one a bad azz 'puter, and not protect the enviornment it is in with a cheap $100 hepa filter? Fuggin tarded if you ask me. You'll still get dust inside even if you aren't running fans. LOL Pretty cool setup. I bet it rips through Doom III. LMAO

It was only 4 large ones (the software cost more than the hardware) :p No fans, less dust = not needing to spend big bucks on a HEPA enclosure in a office that has no room to begin with.

And as far as Doom3 goes, not with that crappy ATI card it doesn't lol
