Wait a little and get some more. Thats what I did, and my wife called me an asshole with tears in her eyes when I brought the new kitten home but she and the cat have been happy ever since.

I have to agree. When our family dog died my mom said she never wanted another pet again because the loss was too painful. She was skeptical when I bought a new kitten home, but the cat has been a loving companion ever since.
