I had some lower end cigars in my humidor standing on end for a few months. I gave one to a friend and he instantly complained about dryness. Is this normal? I maintain the coolidor at 65-67% at all times.

Unless they were wet enought to drip moisture, I'd say no. You should also probably tell your friend not to look a gift horse in the mouth (or however that saying goes!)

Thanks guys.......Where he an aquaintance, I may do that. I look out for my friends and would never think to say something like that. If someone that I know gives me a dry cigar. I'm sure, I would let them know in a subtle manner. It still didn't answer my question.

How did I not answer your question? I don't think it matters if the cigars are naked, clothed, laying on their side, back, belly, or standing on their head. As long as your humi really is at the RH you said it is, all should be well. Maybe your friend isn't used to having a cigar that isn't soaking wet fresh from the B&M.

Just be careful the cigars don't get damaged when they're shuffling around (if it's not a full box). As for that, standing on end could only possible have difference if there was a massive humidity gradience over the, say, 6 inch length of your cigar - and their isn't.

Some people like to complain to look more "in the know"....

I trust what my buddy said.....Oh well, they aren't standing on end anymore. Wish I liked a mild cigar. I would try one.

Thanks guys!!!!

As far as standing cigars on end……no RH effect whatsoever.

As far as how you and your friends treat each other, it’s all relative. I have friends with whom I would say nothing and I have friends with whom I would say “you f%$#ing A$$hat, I didn’t know dog turds could be this dryâ€￾!

It was probably dry when it went in your humi and didn’t have time to even out.
