Straw or Hay

There is a cigar vendor in town where I don't normally go to due to prices, but the two sticks that I've purchased from him, a very small Baccarat and a Short Story, both tasted like hay/straw and a little bit of leather. The leather I can see, as I've had one or two sticks from other places where I've picked up hints of this, but what about the hay/straw flavor? We're not talking about hints here either, my palate isn't very refined and often I've wondered if it was broken, but instead this is a very overpowering sense of burning hay, almost to the point of having to put the cigar down. The walk in humidor this guy uses is wood paneled and carpeted, though I can't remember now if the wood paneling is cedar or not, and he keeps all of the sticks in open boxes. If the paneling were some other type of wood, say a pine or oak or something, could it affect the flavor profile that much?

That sounds strange. I notice hints of hay/straw like flavors commonly in mild, light colored cigars but it doesn't seem to me there should be a whole lot of that going on in the short story. Must be something strange going on in that humidor. I would suggest trying a full bodied cigar and if that taste like hay quit buying from there.
