Sustainability In Production

Good day all
 
I'm a newbie on this site and indeed to the world of cigars in general.
 
I was wondering whether anyone here has insight into the  environmental impact or sustainability of the production of cigars. I've done some basic google research but it appears there is very little literature on this. I have an interest in sustainable development and environmental issues and while it's not going to halt my enjoyment of cigars, I would love to support any manufacturer that is doing the right thing.

Has JD been around in a while?  I've been gone, myself, but don't recall anything posted by him in the few weeks I've been back.  He'd probably be the best equipped to answer that question, no doubt.  Shoot him a PM.

I talked to him at CATS Fest this last weekend and he said he's had to back off from social media engagement like he used to be able to due to his schedule.  He still loves getting on the forums but just doesn't have enough time to do it like he used to.
