Devil Doc
When Death smiles, Corpsmen smile back
After years of avoiding this dram, I finally got around to buying a bottle. It was not at all what I expected and my experience was totally different fromAVB's review. I found the taste subtle. Yes, the smokiness was there, reminded me of smoked oysters, but pungent is not a word that came to mind while drinking nor did I discern any peperiness. It was also, what I would call fragile. It's flavor was easily obscured. It could not compete with a cigar. It needs to be consumed straight. Water and ice kills it. However, it is one of, if not the, best sub $50 a bottle single malts available. Folks say this is whisky for the experienced drinker. I'm not so sure.
