So after my long trip today and finding out my father was in Texas I ended up in Lincoln Nebraska. I hadnt smoked a cigar going up since I figured I would hang out with Pop. So i had to justify the trip and headed to my old B&M thinking I would enjoy a Trini Fundadore from 2000 in comfort. WRONG!!! The city passed a law stating a city wide smoking Ban. Yes, you read that correctly. I was devasted. This even applies to bars and Cigar shops. I mean...WTF..Ok bars..I can live with that since I brew my own beer, but a Cigar shop. The end of the world is coming down on us. You can smoke in Omaha but not Lincoln. It really put a damper on the trip but the goodies he had perked me up which I post in the trade forum what he has sitting on the shelf and price. I gain absolutely nothing but to share with the other BOTL and SOTL of hard to find cigars he has sitting around on the shelves he cant sell.

Thank GOD that Colorado has the sense to permit smoking in places that anyone who can't tolerate smoke should never go. Smoking is still permitted in Cigar shops and cigar bars. They still nailed the American Legion, et.al. I expect there will be a bit of civil disobedience.

That is crap. What ever happened to freedom of choice in this country. If I want to own a business and allow my patrons to engage in a LEGAL activity, who the hell should be able to tell me different. If someone doesn't like smoke, then they should go somewhere else. :Rant Off:

You hit it right on the head brother. The only thing between us and a communist country is that we don't have a dictator in office.......

There is a city in Texas where the cops are going into bars and arresting anyone who "appears" intoxicated. No breath test, nothing. They handcuff them and take them to jail. Their reasoning is, "get them BEFORE they drive drunk". They even arrested 2 women who were in a HOTEL bar where the women were staying. They had no intentions of driving, but to the commie cops, they didn't care, off the jail they went. It's pretty bad when you get arrested BEFORE you commit a crime.

Whats really interesting is this. The person that lit up gets a fine. Then the employee working gets a fine for letting the person smoke. Then the owner gets a hefty fine as well for the action of the customer and employee. HAHAHAHA!!! Like anyone can dictate another person's action.

Seems like the BATF has been watching "Minority Report" too much. Actually it is a state wide crackdown. Texas DUI arrests and accidents have been going up every year, so the state is trying some new stuff. I think some of the smoking stuff is dumb, but whether it is right or wrong; when people can't take personal responsibility for their actions we all suffer.

You should have come up to see us in Omaha!

Was a spur of the moment drive to see my dad in Council Bluffs who wasnt there. Guess I will have to plan some kind of Herf for June up there. maybe goto Mr Toads or some where else.

Remember Calabasas? No smoking, anywhere. Nazi like. Well there's a car, wine and cigar deal I go to there every once in awhile. Outside a guy's coffee shop. Open public space. No one's busted us yet for 20 guys sitting around smoking and drinking in direct defiance of the bloody law.

Lexington, KY is the same way... I mean in KY we produce tobacco, coal and horses... NO smoking anywhere in any building.... However the strip clubs have caught on... get this idea... They bump up the cover charge by five bucks and allow you to smoke in the strip bar and they just pay the daily fine of 500 bucks... So guess where i am when I am lexington... and the place is PACKED wall to wall..

Louisville has a semi-ban... If 60 percent of your sales come from food then no smoking which I can understand, because a true bar sells more alcohol than food..

Anyways it sucks

If any cop pulled me from a hotel bar where I was staying,I would have a great law suit against the town. There is no way to legally justify that kind of action.

I am surprised to hear about these places that have bans that eliminate smoking in cigar shops, too.

I thought we had it bad here in Columbus, Ohio, as the law bans smoking in most buildings but allows smoking in tobacco shops, but I guess we are still more fortunate than other places in this "free" country...

I wonder if the law allows it in private, members only establishments. Cigar shops could become "members only" to get around it. Just thinking out loud.

When i lived in Texas in the 90's they had dry counties, I didn't understand it then (college days)but you could still drink if you became a member to a place. Like a private club. The whole thing didn't make sense to me then or now, so maybe someone from the Lone Star State could help me out!

I saw this coming long ago and made my new home office my smoking room. This was one of the best moves I've done and really enjoy cigars while watching sports or while surfing the net. I don't enjoy smoking outside unless it's warmer than 20 degrees celcius and there is no wind. The best part is nobody can stop you from smoking in your own house!
