This is not a source visit thread. I went here on a vacation visit, met some interesting people, met fellow brother JackImpact and wanted to share the moment with you. Hopefully I am staying within forum guidelines.

To set the stage, the Fuente building is undergoing renovation, so the main front entrance was closed. The side entrance was available. This is where it all starts.

Coming into the back area is a smaller room with what Arturo called the expensive cabinet. Here are to photos to show top and bottom.

Then Arturo came out.

I just had to have a picture with this great man.

We went into the rear of the main office area and here is the cabinet with very choice smokes.

After offering me some water, Arturo invited me into his office to chat, while I asked about how quality of the tobacco is determined etc. Learned about primeings, fermentation and more things than I could understand. His father was not feeling well so I was not about to meet and say hello to Arturo Sr.

Jack and I had arranged to meet, and meet we did. Josh, Arturo's cousin gave us a tour of the building (including the humi where no pictures could be taken) and here we are in an old storage room with old cigar molds (note the curved ceiling).

While seeing more of the lower basement, we came upon the old sign.

This is Josh (Arturo's cousin who gave us the tour and of course, the Impact man himself).

Jack and I spent at least two hours there, had a R52 Rosado (courtesy of Arturo) and had all the time in the world to chat with Josh and Arturo. Of Course we made an investment in some cigars to bring home. And yes, an outstanding time was had by all. It was a pleasure to me and spend time with Jack, a great guy.

If you mean the girls? No they werent in, one left last fall and the other was out of the office. Thats the real reason its called Tampa Sweethearts ;) hehe

Thanks for the pics !! I've always wanted to visit TS, but haven't had an opportunity to do so yet. This gives me a good idea what I'm missing !!

I'll be there in June for a family reunion. This place is in the heart of Ybor City?

Let's putit this way, a blind man couldn't miss it. Then have lunch or dinner at the Columbian. That is a class place with great food and reasonable cost. They are friends of Fuente for over 100 years. Oh yeah, get an extended line of credit.

Not for nothing, Arturo died a loooong time ago! :) Smoke a Don Arturo Gran Aniversario and pay homage :) Nice write up for a largely empty warehouse.

Siriusstoogie, both Jack and I can tell you you for certain, the humidor was plumb full, and it is a serious size humi; walk in, three asile and probably 40 x 50 in size. I can tell you the temp was 53 degree and the humidity was 67%. We could not take pictures because of information that might be shared with the competition. Also on the back dock, there were at least ten full pallets of smokes coming in.

No, they don't roll here anymore, and the lower basement is not used (I am guessing because of temperature control). But smokes, there was a mind boggling amount.

*** As a side note (and Jack will vouch for this statement); there will be a major news announcement from Fuente in the coming months. He asked us not to mention what is was, and we will both respect his request, but, it will change things in a major way.

Nuff said.

Pretty much take Exit 1 off of I-4 and go down 21st street, and youll see it on the left just after The Columbia but before the docks. The Columbia is a really excellent restaurant, I highly recommend it.

Oh and the major announcement is that all Fuente cigars will now have to be tested by me first, or they dont get shipped out. :D ;)

My point was relative to the size of the building, it is a largely empty warehouse. For the record, I've been there about 4 times. I've gotten the tour from Josh and his mom. I have met Darlene. I've seen the guy you referred to as Arturo at one of my visits. Did you think that he is the Arturo in Arturo Fuente?

Also thanks for the inside information, I'll keep an eye out.

You're righ,t enough said! :)

Joe,
I think that is Arturo Fuente, Jr. On their website it lists him as the President of Tampa Sweethearts. He's not THE ARTURO FUENTE, but his name is Arturo.

Well whatever it is I'm excited i love Fuentes.

Very nice. Looks like a sweet little adventure. Thanks for posting the pics and sharing the story. I've been to Tampa several times and have never taken the time to drop by Tampa Sweethearts. That will have to chance the next time I roll through town.
