I'm looking into these and I wanted to know if anyone in the northern part of the country has had issues with them? The only draw back I have heard is if the water comes in real cold and you have it set high you might run into problems with the flow. This would be a Natural Gas one.

I've had one for about 5 years now. The water is hotter in the summer then the winter but not so much you have to up the internal thermostat, you just mix in more cold water in the shower during the summer. I would say that unless the estimate guides have changed get the next bigger one up from whatever is suggested. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with it and it saves me about $15 a month over the old electric water heater I had.

I looked into these for my house and when my WH goes I will most likely get one. They do sell boosters that can be attached to shaowers, washing machines and dish washers to make sure those are consistant even when the temp drops. Google Tankless Water Heaters you will find plenty of articals and reviews.

my brother has this system as well as my in-laws. they rave about this set up. saves money and no water heater replacements.

I can't imagine any part of Jersey that would need a booster. The temperature variation isn't that great and is hotter then my old electric water heater even in the dead of winter.

unless he may be on a well, not a public water system? just a thought...

I've heard nothing bad about instantaneous water heaters, and see them more and more on new buildings. I wouldn't hesitate to switch to one in a second. You can even get small instantaneous heaters at each fixture that will be able to keep up with your shower, sink, etc., but I wouldn't recommend that since all you really need is a central unit.

One of the regulars at the shop had one installed last year and loves it and has had no problems with his. As soon as the water heater I have starts to head south I'm getting one.
