temp of humi

My humi reads about 72f and humidity of 68% is this about rite, and if not what is optimum for it to be. I was reading about some bad things happening at 75F and higher.

Lot of topics and schools of though on this. Of course the internet says 70/70 all over the place, most keep things closer to 65/65 if possible. But again, that's just one school of thought.

Now that I can control the temp in my humidor I like to keep it below 65F and then between 67 or 69% RH. I would stress when the temp would get into the 70s. There are thermo coolers made in many different sizes and they would keep the temp down for you. You can find them on eBay anytime. Great for desktops and small cabinets or even coolerdors. Just need a power source.

I moved it to my small enclosed bar in the living room yesterday and the humidity went to 64 and temp came down to 68 so I think I will be happy with that. My friend has his at 72 hum and 75-78 temp, wondering if the temp is a little high,I know the hum is on the edge. I read that a closet is a good place to keep them.

Personally above 68 is too high for me. Above that I find the draw to tight and just unpleasant all the way around. I wouldn't worry about the temp unless it is consistently above 80, then you will have to worry about beatles.

As far as a closet, the only reason to keep them in a closet is to stay away from sunlight, that only comes into play if you have glass in your humi allowing the sunlight to make direct contact with the cigars.

higher temps and RH (usually a combination of both) would most likely result in beetles and mold. I wouldn't really worry about them because once you got them, the stash is most likely done for. especially if the mold is blueish greenish and/or beetles are flying out of your humidor in the thousands. sure you can salvage them, but would you want to smoke a cigar that looks like a flute?

Just keep checking on them regularly and smoke one every once in a while.
