The correct burn

I hear a lot of discussion about cigars burning too hot or too cool and this confuses me a little. Are there some clues that a cigar is burning hot or cool and what are they? Then if so, how does one correct these problems to create a more enjoyable smoke? Sorry these questions may seem a little elementary to some of you, but I am a newb to cigar smoking and am trying to learn as much as possible as this is quickly becoming one of my favorite activities.

I do not know what you mean by your cigar burns to cool. Are you having a hard time keeping it lit? Or are you just having bad burn issues? The only thing that I could say is to check the humidity that you are storing your cigars at, it may be to wet. Other than that, I have no idea.

If your cigar is burning to hot, often time you will get a bitter, ash taste. If this is the case then slow down, you might be rushing the smoke. I read on here somewhere that you should try for about a puff a minute, if that is not the exact quote, then it is what I took away from the post.

I am by no means an expert, but I try to offer up my humble opinion when I can. From one noob to another, take it for what it is worth.

Thanks for the response it does clear up some issues about the bitter tastes that I sometimes get when and quite posibly I could be smoking it too fast. I will try to stay in the area of about a puff a minute and not rush things.
