I took the wife to Nashville for a little get away for our 22nd anniversary. We went to The Stockyard Resturant there. All I can say is if you go to Nashville check it out.

They offer a shuttle to the resturant and back to the hotel. We arrived at the resturant by shuttle. We entered and the first thing I observed was a stand up humidor filled with CAO cigars. This made sense as CAO is headquartered in Nashville. They also had on display the oldest bottle of wine in the US..circa 1776.

The dining area was in rooms that had once housed the stock and bond trading area in Nashville. There was actual stock paperwork on display in each room. The names of the office were in the origional glass signs above each door in the dining room.

We sat down and looked at the menu. I immediately ordered some Rooster Fries. If you don't know what they are don't ask. They are a Southern Treat. My wife was throughly disgusted at me because of my order. :p I told her they were loaded with what made a roster great and she might benefit from it.

After the Rooster Fries we ordered the house speciality...A twenty ounce sirloin and a loaded baked potato. It arrived and it was a sight to behold. This sucker was an inch and a half thick and covered most of the plate. After this was all said and done I realized this was probably the best cut of beef I ever had. Nothing...I mean nothing was left. I washed it all down with a couple of Sam Adams.

If you are ever in Nashville you need to check out this place. Your wallet will be much lighter but it is well worth it.

I read an article today that said this is one of the top ten steak houses in the US, according to Wine Spectator Magazine.

Rooster Fries eh? I'm more partial to Rocky Mountain Oysters if I'm going to indulge in that kind of thing.

Happy anniversary Ken. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Now when are we going to burn together!!!! :D I am getting grey hairs over here.

Try Jimmy Kelly's off of Elliston if you're ever in the mood for a different place - one of Nashville's best kept "secrets" IMO.

Definitely agree with Jimmy Kelly's! I had the Maytag Bleu Cheese Stuffed Filet and it was incredible! I hope to visit Nashville again soon for more Jimmy Kelly's and Jack's BBQ.... mmmmmmmmmmmm!
