The tale of the Gouger

I went to a B&M in Austin. They got 30 boxes of Anejo in last Friday. They were down to 6 boxes when I walked in.

#48-$400
#49-$425

I stopped asking after that. ;)

Indeed. This particular shop usually has pretty good prices... especially if you fork up the $900 a year for a membership. Buddy of mine has his ass imprinted on the couch in the lounge (meaning he spends a lot of time there!!!) called up and told me about the "mega shipment". Prices were too high for me though. I got a better deal at the shops here in the D/FW area...

What it comes down to is that the Fuentes are in this business to make money. I'm sure they'd love to see all their HTF stuff being sold for MSRP, but they can't and won't enforce it. Once they have their money, I doubt they'd do much to stop this from happening.

I'd just chalk it up to money hungry retailers. I'd never frequent a shop that marks up the HTFs that much, but then again, someone does and it won't change until customers stop buying from those retailers. It's a vicious cycle.
