"Every day around 30 people die in the UK as a result of second-hand smoke. Today's vote will mean the beginning of the end to these frightening statistics," said Dr. Vivienne Nathanson, head of ethics and science at the British Medical Association.

No lady what it means is hundreds to thousands of people are going to be out of a job as soon as the smokers decide to stay home and drink instead of going to the pub.

I was delighted to learn that the Colorado ban specifically exempts cigar bars and rooms. It also exempts private clubs. The talk now is that every bar and casino will start requiring membership, something like $1 a year or something.

This has been going on in the UK since around 2003 when I was there last. What they fail to look at is the over populated cramped cities with no way of getting real fresh air to clean that crap out. Oh well...At least ya can still smoke in 3rd world countries for now. :whistling:

lol Italy was the first EU country to impose a ban.

Utah apparently. After being roundly defeated just last year it looks like sometime later today a ban will pass the state legislature. This will be a complete ban on smoking in public places including private clubs. What complete and utter bullsh!t. I can't even begin to imagine the loss of revenue my club will experience. It will be devestating to say the least.

I'm told by a lawyer friend that the ban in a private club will never hold up to challenge.
