For those of you familiar with the Long Island area, I work in Freeport, a couple minutes from the Nautical Mile. For those of you not familiar, Freeport dubs itself as the "fishing capitol of the east." Down near the shore there's a mile long stretch of road with some great restaurants and bars, little shops, charter fishing trips... basically everything you would expect to find in a small "main street" type of area down near the water.

In the almost two years I have been here, when the weather is nice, I like to take my lunch hour down there with a nice cigar. There's a great spot about halfway down with a couple benches, I just sit there, watch the boats go by, and relax. If everyone in the country could find an hour in their work day to spend like this, stress levels in this country would drastically drop.

A little bit of cloud cover, 55 degrees, with a nice breeze. Not as nice as originally advertised, but still nice out nonetheless. Since today was the first real nice day of the year, I decided to head down there. With my La Aurora Preferido Robusto by my side, it was truly a great lunch hour today.

The only downside to doing this - half the time I don't want to come back to work. :D

That sounds a lot better than my lunch, grab a sandwich and eat at my desk while I work. You are right, when I get the chance to grab a smoke at lunch, I never want to go back and I am not very productive.

You are right. Moments like that don't come around often enough in life. The older I get the more I realize that it is all right to 'steal' them. It is hard to do, but life is too short not to sit on a bench on a beautiful day, have a cigar, and watch the sea gulls fly. Enjoy!!

Those days are over! We're expecting snow for the next 3 days. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. BTW, I have a buddy that sells boats at the Nautical Mile. Great place to hang out with a good cigar.
